Duisburg Homberg: New site director for endoprosthetics

Since April, Dr. Georgios Spyrou has been the new site director for endoprosthetics at the Homberg location. The department is managed in close coordination with Chief Physician Dr. Alexandros Anastasiadis, who oversees the department across locations. Dr. Spyrou brings many years of clinical and surgical expertise in endoprosthetics as well as in orthopedic and trauma care.

Dr. Spyrou began his professional career, among other places, at the Orthopedic University Clinic of Ruhr University Bochum at St. Josef Hospital, where he worked for several years as a resident and later as a specialist physician.

At Alfried-Krupp-Krankenhaus in Essen-Rüttenscheid, he initially served as Senior Physician and Coordinator of the Endoprosthetics Center before later taking over as Head of the Endoprosthetics Section and Director of the Endoprosthetics Center (EPZ). In this role, he was largely responsible for the further development and quality assurance of endoprosthetic care.

Most recently, Dr. Spyrou worked as a Senior Physician at a specialized orthopedic clinic in Ratingen.

Dr. Spyrou holds numerous additional qualifications, including Special Orthopedic Surgery and Special Trauma Surgery. As a certified endoprosthetics specialist (Master) for hip and knee replacement and a senior EPZ surgeon, he represents the highest standards of medical quality and modern treatment methods. “I am very pleased to take over the site management of endoprosthetics at Helios Hospital Duisburg and to continue developing patient care at the highest level together with the team,” says Dr. Spyrou.

Dr. Alexandros Anastasiadis adds: “With Dr. Spyrou, we have gained an experienced colleague who will particularly advance large joint endoprosthetics in Homberg.
