Helios Hospital Emil von Behring

The Helios Hospital Emil von Behring, academic teaching hospital of the Charité, is a hospital for qualified specialist care in the attractive south-west of Berlin. Established in 2000 through the merger of three renowned specialist clinics known throughout Germany: Heckeshorn Lung Clinic, Oskar-Helene-Heim, Behring Hospital, the Helios Hospital Emil von Behring offers state-of-the-art medical care at the highest level for children and adults.

The foundation hospital Oskar-Helene-Heim, one of the oldest hospitals in Berlin, was founded in 1905 by a married couple Oskar and Helene Pintsch as a healing center for disabled adolescents and then developed into a university clinic for orthopedics and trauma surgery known throughout Germany - a modern center for Joint medicine and spinal surgery. The Heckeshorn Lung Clinic was founded in 1947 as a tuberculosis clinic. Since 2004 it has been one of the numerous specialist departments of the Helios  Hospital Emil von Behring under the name of the Clinic for Pneumology. It is one of the leading lung centers in Germany and offers high quality medical care for patients with lung cancer, breathing disorders during sleep, infectious diseases of the respiratory organs and tuberculosis.
