Diagnosis of abdominal wall hernia - our experts at your side

Whether at the groin, thigh, navel or in the area of scars - the abdominal wall can break in many places. In cooperation with the Hamburg Hernia Center, we offer you treatment of all types of hernia by internationally renowned specialists.

Focus on MILOS OP / Hernia Surgery

Depending on the type of abdominal wall hernia and the individual circumstances of the patient, different surgical procedures are available in hernia surgery. These include minimally invasive as well as open techniques with larger skin incisions. Whenever possible, our experts use gentle procedures with small incisions.

An important focus of the Hernia Center is the MILOS operation - an innovative procedure that is suitable for very many abdominal wall hernias and rectus diastases. The MILOS operation was developed by Dr. med. Reinpold in Hamburg and has subsequently become the gold standard in hernia surgery both nationally and internationally.

MILOS combines the advantages of the formerly dominant surgery techniques in abdominal wall surgery. Before its introduction surgeons had to choose between inserting the indispensable synthetic mesh with a large incision outside the abdominal cavity or minimally invasively into the abdominal cavity. Both – large incisions and an insertion inside the abdominal cavity – come with considerable disadvantages. MILOS allows for a minimally invasive insertion of the mesh outside the abdominal cavity. The results are not only leading to better cosmetic results but also much lower chronic pain rates and a very good restoration of the abdominal wall function.

In order to provide you with the best treatment, our departments work together within the framework of your diagnosis and treatment.
